Krista Lyn Vaters
Interior Designer/CEO
Krista has been in the interior design industry for 19 years. In 2002, she graduated, with honors, from Lawrence College in St. John's, NL with a diploma in Interior Decorating and Design Concepts. From there she took an internship with Island Furniture from there she took position at their new La-Z-Boy store as Decorator/Sales & Office Administrator.
A year later Krista accepted a job with Artistic Kitchen Ltd, to specialize in custom cabinetry design and manufacturing. She soon discovered her passion for the intricate details, space planning and manufacturing processes. She gained a great deal of knowledge on residential construction, implementing building codes, designing lighting layouts, creating detailed shop drawings, sourcing and ordering materials, cabinetry design and the manufacturing process during this time.

In 2010, Krista left Artistic Kitchens to assist in the opening of a new cabinetry manufacturing business as lead designer. Her customer service experience and design knowledge paired with the manufacturing expertise of the business owner, Elite Kitchens + Design Ltd. quickly became known for its design work, product quality and customer service. Krista was known for her approachable personality and ability to relate to clients, effortlessly gaining their trust.
Through Elite Kitchens + Design, Krista had the honor to design the cabinetry for the Health Care Foundation Lottery Home for five consecutive years. Elite Kitchens + Design also took part in a local tv show to design and supply the kitchen for the featured home. Krista was featured and interviewed on the show in several episodes. During her time with Elite Kitchens + Design they won several awards including Renovator of the Year 2019 and Best Booth Display (CHBA-NL Home Show) two years in a row.

During the pandemic that hit the world in 2020, with some time off, Krista designed and over saw a major renovation of her mother's home in central Newfoundland. It quickly became apparent that there was a lack of her particular skill set in the area. After some reflection, Krista decided to make a life changing move from the city, after 22 years, and go back to her hometown of Botwood to open her own design company, Krista Lyn Vaters Interior Design Studio inc.
Krista's first love are her dogs. She currently shares her life with Theodore (Maltese) and Georgia (Saluki Mix, a rescue from Qatar) and had her first pup, Bailey (maltese) for 14 years, who has since passed over the rainbow bridge. They are never very far from her side and love sharing in all the adventures. Krista has previously designed and build three of her own homes and is currently undergoing renovations to her home in Botwood. It is through those experiences that have been the most valuable source of education, as well has given her an understanding of the processes from both sides of the table.
Krista has always had a passion for design and seeing to all the little details. She brings all of her experience and knowledge with her into every project, treating every home like her own. She is excited for this new chapter and looking forward to share her experience, her expertise and guidance on your next project.
